ATTORNEY RICHARD L. TURNER, JR. ACHIEVES RECERTIFICATION IN CIVIL TRIAL LAW WITH THE NATIONAL BOARD OF TRIAL ADVOCACY
SYCAMORE, ILLINOIS: -The National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA) is pleased to announce that Richard L. Turner, Jr., of the law firm Turner Law Group, LLC, has successfully achieved recertification as a civil trial advocate. The NBTA was formed out of a strong conviction that both the law profession and its clients would benefit from an organization designed specifically to create an objective set of standards illustrating an attorney's experience and expertise in the practice of trial law.
Richard L. Turner, Jr. is part of a growing number of trial attorneys that have illustrated their commitment to bettering the legal profession by successfully completing a rigorous application process and providing the consumer of legal services with an objective measure by which to choose qualified and experienced legal counsel.
The elaborate screening of credentials that all NBTA board-certified attorneys must successfully complete includes: demonstration of substantial trial experience, submission of judicial and peer references to attest to their competency, attendance of continuing legal education courses, and proof of good standing.
Board Certification is the highest, most stringent, and most reliable honor an attorney can achieve. Board certifications are the only distinctions awarded by non-profit organizations. The NBTA as well as all board certifying organizations are committed to safeguarding the public’s ability to choose a good attorney. The Supreme Court of Illinois does not yet recognize certifications of specialties in the practice of law and board certification is not a requirement to practice law in Illinois.
Richard L. Turner, Jr. is a 1981 graduate of DePaul College of Law (J.D., with honors) and is licensed to practice law in Illinois and before the Federal Trial Bar, U.S. District Court, Northern District of IL, 1983; Central District of IL, 2017. He is a member of numerous Bar Associations and Committees: DeKalb County (Past President), Kane County (Past Chair of Worker’s Compensation and Practice Management Committees; KCBA Community Service Award Recipient, 2016), Illinois State (Assembly Delegate, 16th Judicial Circuit 1990-92, 1994-2000; 2004-2010; Assembly Delegate, 23rd Judicial Circuit, 2014-2016) Civil Practice and Procedure Section Council (Chair 2007-2008); Standing Committee on Supreme Court Rules (Chair 2003-2004); Committee on Legal Technology (Chair 2002-2003), Illinois Trial Lawyers Association; The American Association for Justice; Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys; Association of Plaintiff Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America; Illinois Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association. Mr. Turner is also a Life Member of Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum and named as Leading Lawyer in Illinois in Personal Injury and Worker’s Compensation and Super Lawyer in Illinois.
Approximately three percent of American lawyers are board-certified, and Mr. Turner is a member of a very select group who has taken the time to prove competence in their specialty area and earn board certification.
